Charlie Connolly
After
48 years in the public and private protection profession Charlie
Connolly is probably one of the better known professionals in
the field. His career spans a number of highly respected executive
positions.
Connolly was First
Vice President / Director of World Wide Security for Merrill Lynch
responsible for the physical security of 68,000 plus employees
assigned to 980 buildings located in 44 countries and the 50 states.
Connolly was Vice President,
Business Development for Wells Fargo Guard services (1991 - 1993).
He served eight years
as Director of Police services for the New York City Health and
Hospitals Corporation responsible for the administration, training
and supervision of some 1,300 police personnel and 24 health related
facilities (1983 - 1991).
In addition to his
eight years experience in the nation's largest healthcare system.
Charlie was Police Commissioner of Yonkers the fourth largest
city in New York State.
Prior to his commissionership,
Charlie had (22) twenty-two years with the New York City Police
Department.
His career includes
educational achievements such as:
o Masters Degree in
Public Administration
o Adjunct Professorships at John Jay college of Criminal Justice
o U.S. Military Academy at West Point
o Plus three other institutions of Higher Learning
Connolly is also a
Certified Protection Professional (CCP) by virtue of successful
completion of the American Society of Industrial Security International
(ASIS) examination in 1984.
Criminal Justice Related
Appointments:
o Appointed by Governor Cary to the New York State Police Standards
and Goals Task Force (1976-77).
o Former Chairperson of the New York State Peace Officers Advisory
Council (1988-91).
o Former Chairperson of the International Association of Chief's
of Police's Public Safety Directors Committee. Former members
of that Association's Organized Crime Committee and the Private
Security Committee.
o Former member of the Board of Directors of the Police Executive
Research Forum (PERF) and the American Academy of Professional
Law Enforcement (AAPLE). Past President of the New York State
and Eastern Canada Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates.
Charlie was invited
in June of 2005 with a group of active and retired police executives
to prepare a "Legacy Paper" on lessons learned and advice
that could be given to future chief executives.
Charlie has been a
frequent contributor to various law enforcement groups well past
his public service retirement. He has lectured at the FBI's Leeds
program, the NEI training sessions at Quantico and several presentations
at the annual Sun Valley Major Cities Chiefs / NEIA Conferences.
